Resolved Question: What year is this French horn and how much is it worth?

We have an old French horn and I'm curious to know what year it is and how much it might be worth now. It's not in the best of shape, but it still plays and I think it would look much better if we took it to get it cleaned up. That being said, it is a Conn 8D French Horn. Inscribed on the bell is 'C.G. Conn LTD. Elkhart-IND. U.S.A.' I know it's an 8D because it's inscribed on the leadpipe. The serial number on the second valve reads 'H 19427'.
